Loewe Gallery

It has been very long since I want to post about the Loewe Gallery in Barcelona which is really amazing!
You enter the Loewe universe and go through the history of the brand.

The installation of the window is a tribute to Antoni Gaudi, the catalan architect who contributed to the creation of the iconic handbag of the brand, the Amazona.

The ground floor is the floor of the handbag Amazona.

The installation of the ground floor shows you how the Amazona is created and focuses on the quality of its components. More than 65 hand-made pieces and 8 hours of craftwork - with an exhibition of the tools used - can be seen in 8 minutes, in which a hologram shows and explains the techniques used for the creation of the Amazona.

Since 1975 the Amazona handbag hasn’t stopped evolving, with different colours and combinations.

In the lower floor, we can see the reconstruction of one of the best window displays of José Pérez de Rozas, designer and art director of the brand from 1945-1978. Also handbags and other historic pieces of the brand are exhibited in this floor.

And then the next floor is where the foulards of Loewe can be admired. The prints of the Loewe foulards are inspired by the spanish culture and some of the pieces are exhibited for us to admire.

The installation of the ‘Flamenco Dancers’ by Daniel Wurtzel brings to life a silk foulard. The artist plays with the wind and the lightness of the silk and creates something amazing, a silk foulard is dancing to the rhythm of the music.

Here is a video of the dance

On the higher floor we come across the tree of Loewe leather. A series of projections, combining the three senses, vision, hearing and touch, invite the visitor to feel the different qualities of leather.

The tree of Flamenco handbags where the handbags, in the eye of the visitor, ‘transform' into real fruit.

Last, the top floor is where Loewe celebrates cultural events and exhibitions. The exhibition at the moment at the Loewe Gallery is that of The Sartorialist, Scott Schuman.

And, The Masters of Leather!
